A Vipassana meditation center teaching in the tradition of S.N. Goenka, the 3rd center established in Thailand. The first 10-day course was held in January 2005. Set on 80 rai of land in Nong Rua District, Khon Kaen Province, surrounded by forest and rice fields.

Dhamma Suvanna is located on 80 rai of land in Nong Rua District, Khon Kaen Province, in Northeastern Thailand. The center is surrounded by forest and farmland, providing a quiet, natural setting well suited to meditation practice.

Dhamma Suvanna is the 3rd Vipassana meditation center established in Thailand in the tradition of S.N. Goenka, following Sayagyi U Ba Khin. The center held its first 10-day course in January 2005, and can accommodate up to 56 students per course.

Non-Profit Center

The center operates entirely on a donation basis. There is no charge for courses, accommodation, or food — courses are funded solely by the voluntary donations of old students who have completed a course and experienced the benefits of the technique.

Buildings & Accommodation

Dhamma Suvanna can accommodate up to 56 students per course.

Group Meditation Hall

160 square metres, used for group sitting, with separate individual meditation cells.

Multipurpose Building

Houses the central dining hall for students.

Natural Surroundings

The 80-rai grounds are shaded by forest and surrounded by rice fields and farmland.

Female Dormitories

42 rooms for female students.

Male Dormitories

20 rooms for male students.

Center Office

Handles registration and coordination of course applications.

Courses

Courses & Applications

10-Day Vipassana Course

The course begins on the evening of the first day and ends on the morning of the last day.

  • Applications open up to 5 months before the course start date.
  • The center will contact applicants approximately 3 months before the course.
  • Applying to more than one center for overlapping dates will delay processing until all but one application is withdrawn.
  • Students applying for multiple courses are processed one course at a time, in sequence.

Travel from Khon Kaen City

The center provides transport from Bus Terminal 3 in Khon Kaen on the day the course begins.

  • Wait at platform 12–13 (Nakhonchaiair) at Bus Terminal 3, Ring Road — look for the “Dhamma Suvanna” sign.
  • The van departs at 15:30; round-trip fare is 200 baht. Please reserve a seat 3 days in advance.
  • On the last day, the van departs the center at 7:15 and arrives at Bus Terminal 3 around 8:30.

How to Reach

Directions to Dhamma Suvanna

1. From Bangkok to Khon Kaen City

Take a Nakhonchaiair air-conditioned bus from Mo Chit 2, departing 8:00, arriving at Bus Terminal 3 around 14:30 (reservations: 1624). Alternatively, fly — daily flights between Bangkok and Khon Kaen are operated by Thai Airways, AirAsia, Nok Air, and Lion Air.

2. Center Transport (course start day)

Wait at platform 12–13 (Nakhonchaiair) at Bus Terminal 3, Ring Road, look for the “Dhamma Suvanna” sign. The van departs at 15:30; round-trip fare is 200 baht. Please reserve 3 days ahead by calling 086-713-5617.

3. Public Bus

From Khon Kaen Bus Terminal, take a Khon Kaen–Chum Phae bus and ask to get off at Ban Don Mong (32 km from Khon Kaen). Cross the road and take a motorcycle taxi or tuk-tuk to the center.

4. Taxi / Grab

Hire a taxi or book a Grab Taxi via the mobile app from Khon Kaen city or the airport directly to the center.

5. Private Car from Bangkok

449 km via Highway 1 to Saraburi (Km. 107), then right onto Highway 2 (Mittraphap Road) through Nakhon Ratchasima to Khon Kaen. 6 km before the city, follow signs for the Chum Phae bypass, then Highway 12 to Km. 31 — the entrance is opposite Chorakhe Witthayayon School (a U-turn is required if approaching from Khon Kaen). Turn left just before the overpass and continue 2.7 km.
